If you would like to look at the animals in Edinburgh Zoo follow this link and you can go live to the cameras. Let us know in the comments below if you spot an animal. Literacy - Shark in the Park Mrs Subachus' favourite nursery book is ‘Shark in the Park’ she said she likes it because it is a rhyming book and because it is about sharks! If you haven't heard the story before or would like to listen to it again, click this link for the author Nick Sharratt to read it to you. What did Timothy Pope spot through his telescope? Can you think of something that rhymes with that word? Did Timothy Pope find any sharks in the story? Can you tell a grown up? Challenge - Can you write a sentence about your favourite story or can you write a sentence about Shark in the Park? A colour hunt for maths What is your favourite colour? Miss Syme's is Green. Raheel knows this and says his favourite colour is green too. Can you see how many items you can find that are your favourite colour? How many of those items are made of wood? How many of the items are made of glass? How many items are made of plastic? How many items are made of metal? Pick another person in your house and ask them what their favourite colour is? Go and see how many items you can find that are their favourite colour? Which was the most? Yours or theirs? Look below for all the things that Miss Syme found that were green in her house.

Good morning everyone! We hope you had a lovely weekend. What did you do over the weekend? I have been counting the number of rainbows that I can see on my road. So far I have counted 5! You will need some sort of paper (newspaper, magazine, paper), scissors and sellotape. Our 10 books - literacy challenge Today’s task is to think of one of your favourite stories from school. (Remember our 10 books) Can you remember what is on the front cover? Can you tell a family member what an author and an illustrator do? Can you retell the story or part of it to someone else? Let your teacher know which story you chose and we can see which book(s) are the most popular!! Do your family members like that book too? The numeral challenge Can you walk around your house and see if you can spot any numerals? What numerals do you recognise? What is the largest number you recognise? What is the smallest numeral you recognise? Can you try and write any of these numerals? Look below for some of the numerals that we could find. I had numerals on my laptop and remote. Do you have numerals in your shoes and clothes? Why are there numerals on them? Comment on the blog to tell us the strangest place you found a numeral? Good morning children! Your challenge this week is to play 'I spy' with your family. Playing this game will help strengthen your vocabulary, memory, attention and listening skills. There are two activities to play. 1st Activity 1. Look at the picture and tell your grown up all the things you can see! Try to name 10 objects. 2.Listen and Point
Your grown up is going to say the following 'I spy' sentences. Listen very carefully to the 'special words' (clues) in the sentences. " I spy with my little eye something that is ... red, round, big, heavy, soft" "I spy with my little eye something I can... play with, wear, sleep in, watch, read" " I spy with my little eye something that is a ... toy, furniture, wooden" ! 2nd Activity Play 'I spy' around your house. Try to use special words (clues) that describe an object, tells you what an object can do and what group the object belongs to. Remember to take turns and have fun! Mrs Martin Your challenge is to do the following mouth movement exercises everyday. These exercises will make the muscles around your mouth and face much stronger and help you to say your words clearly. You will need a mirror so that you can watch yourself doing the exercises. Try to do each exercise 3 times. Try to hold that movement for 5 seconds. Have fun!

Each member of your family can put an item into a box. Inside the box you can get a grown up to help you to write your family members names. Also in the box you could write down your favourite television programme, film, song, food. Why did you choose those items? Why did you pick a certain song? Once your capsule (box) is complete, you can seal it and place it somewhere safe. Then in a number of years (maybe 10) you then take out the capsule and look inside! Literacy task for Thursday For today’s task, can you spot any butterflies? Reception, remember when you had a visit from Wriggly Roadshow? James brought lots of mini beasts for you to look at and touch, we have put some pictures at the bottom of this blog for you to look at and talk about. Below is a copy of butterflies which are flying around at this time of year. If it safe to do so, can you go outside and look for some? If not, can you look from your window to see any? Reception, do you notice any patterns? If so, what patterns are they? Can you draw a picture of a butterfly and send it to your teacher? Maths - name challenge Can you write your name on a piece of paper? How many letters are in your name? Write down all the names of your family? Ask them to help you? Whose name has the most letters? Whose name has the least amount of letters? How many letters in your brother/sisters name? Have you repeated any letter in your name? Circle them and count how many times you’ve repeated? How many items have you found all together? How did you work it out? Which is the biggest item? Which is the smallest item? Which is the heaviest item? Which is the lightest? Are any of the black items electronic? Can you draw a picture of all your items and try and write the numeral next to each item? Please send a picture to your teacher. You can find some examples of items below. Rainbow writing Today’s activities include making a rainbow! What colours would you need to make a rainbow? What shape is it? Reception can you label the colours? What sounds do the colours start with? Can you write a sentence using some of those colours? Once you have completed your rainbow, place it in a window of your house, this way other children in your street can see it and you can make a rainbow wave to each other!
