Some of the children in Reception had shown an interest in the mud kitchen and so to introduce the area all reception children and their families were invited to a breakfast morning. The children were encouraged to place an order, pay for their breakfast and then talk to their families over breakfast.
We would like to thank all of the parents and carers who took the time to come and we hope you enjoyed it as much as the children did.
Please see the way we are encouraging parents to support their children with name writing, ordering and identifying letters and name recognition in Reception.
A big welcome to all of the children and their families from the Reception team. Mrs Kendall, Miss Syme, Miss Asquith and Miss Rafiq work in the Reception unit and love to get to know the new children and help them become fantastic members of Crumpsall Lane Primary School! Learning new skills is so important in Reception, however, we do a lot of our learning through play! In Reception, the children can follow their own interests; topics are often catered to what the children like! Reception is a creative, fun and warm environment to explore and learn in. We focus on subjects such as Phonics, Literacy and Maths, as these are the fundamental areas of Early Learning.
As well as learning new educational skills, we work on becoming members of the school community. We learn to form new friendships, be more independent, follow structures and routines and to let our big personalities shine!
We encourage all parents to share information regularly with the team, this can be done through talking to the adults or through emailing email@example.com we like to share the emails with the class and enjoy responding to them. We will also send observations on your child's learning through Target Tracker Link, so please pass on your details so that you don't miss out!
We regularly hold parent workshops and events where you are encouraged to come in to school; look out for any letters or texts shared by school so that you can attend.
We look forward to working with you over the next year!
This week the children have enjoyed setting up and using our new play car wash. The children have loved it that much they have asked if the car wash can stay forever. Have a look at the photographs and see if the children are doing a good job at cleaning the bikes.
Over the past three weeks the children in Reception have been reading the story ‘Jasper’s Beanstalk’. When the letter arrived from Jasper we planted some seeds. We have followed this with some gardening using the rake and spade and then planting our own seeds which we are hoping will grow in to some lovely fruits, salads and vegetables.
Children in the Reception classes have joined year 4 to celebrate the end of their water topic.
The children in Reception had previously learnt about under the sea and enjoyed seeing what the older children had learnt about the water cycle.
