Year 5's Blog...

Friday's english

Hello Year 5 children
This morning for english, I would like you to write a letter to Ms Adams to persuade her to either ban school uniforms or keep school uniforms.  It is important that you use your writing targets and persuasive language in your letter.  Please see an example of a persuasive letter that I have started below.  I have also attached a sheet, which contains persuasive language that you can include within your letter.  After you have completed your writing, please  re-read your text and   edit it where appropriate.

Good luck!

Dear Ms Adams,
I am writing to you regarding an issue that I feel passionate about.  I strongly believe that the wearing of school uniform in our school should be banned.  I have a few convincing arguments to support my view.

To begin, school uniforms are dull and boring to look at.  Many school uniforms, which are uncomfortable, have the same white t-shirt and grey trouser or skirt combination.  Who wants to see four hundred children wearing the same clothes every day?

Furthermore, school uniforms are expensive.  Parents often have to buy school uniform for two or more children.  This means that it can become even more costly for them!  Also, school uniforms can get damaged.  This means that there are pricey to replace.

Hi Muniba,

It's great to see you are doing the learning activities I have set. Make sure you re-read your writing and check for any spelling and grammar errors like we do in class. After this, make sure you have done any other learning activities on the blog. There are plenty of activities to do!

Hi Simarvin,

It's great to hear that you are engaging with the learning on the Year 5 blog. Yes, of course you can write it in the book I gave you. Or you can type it, if you have a laptop/computer at home. When you have finished your writing, you can send me a photo of your work by e-mail or send your typed work by e-mail.

The e-mail address is:

Take care,

Mr Tait

Hi Michelle,

I gave everyone, who was in school during the last week of term, a blank book to write any home learning in. Just use any blank paper or blank booklets you have at home!
