On Friday, December the 6th, Nursery held Christmas Stay and Play sessions for our parents. We made star and tree decorations, wrote in cards, threaded beads onto a candy cane and decorated Christmas biscuits. We ended with a Christmas sing song which we encouraged our parents to join in with, using British Sign Language. We had great fun!
This week in nursery, we have been finding out all about the traditions of Christmas. We have been opening our British Sign Language Advent calendar and Miss Simpson has been helping us to practise the signs for: Christmas, sing and Elf. We decorated the tree during Finger Gym time, doesn't it look beautiful?
In Maths,Miss Akhtar made a Christmas tree, we had to match the correct number ball to the number on the hole in the tree.
We have started to make our Christmas cards and in our Role Play area we have made a festive sweet shop.
What another busy week we have had so far!
To conclude our World Nursery Rhyme Week, Nursery had a visit from Humpty Dumpty. Unfortunately he had had an accident! The children went outside to investigate.
We found him on the floor in pieces! What could have happened to him?
Nursery sent for all the King's Horses and all the King's Men, but unfortunately they could not put Humpty back together again!
The children decided that plasters would be a good choice to fix Humpty, as when they had bumps and grazes, plasters helped them to feel better.
So we took him back inside and used plasters to mend him.
To celebrate the end of World Nursery Rhyme Week, we invited our parents into school to join us for our singing session. Here are some photographs of EYFS enjoying themselves. Well done to all of our children for completing your challenge of singing 10 rhymes.
This week in nursery we have been taking part in World Nursery Rhyme Week. Over 106 countries across the world have joined in. The aim was to sing 5 nursery rhymes. However, here at Crumpsall Lane we love a challenge! So we set our children the task of singing 10 nursery rhymes, which we are going to perform for our families as part of a sponsored event.
During the week we have taken part in lots of nursery rhyme activities, here are a selection of them, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Two Little Dicky Birds, Incy Wincy Spider,Humpty Dumpty and I Had a Little Turtle.
Today in nursery we observed the 2 minute silence for Remembrance Day. We made a giant poppy with Miss Simpson. In the playdough we also made poppies.
We held a competition in nursery to see who won the pumpkins to take home. Here are our winners! Well done boys
Today in Nursery we found out about Halloween. We looked at two pumpkins, we felt how heavy and cold they were and in our groups discussed which one was the heaviest.
After lunch, Mrs Mayoh and Miss Simpson helped us to cut open the pumpkins. We then scooped out the flesh and the seeds. We put them into our tough trays and explored!
After this, we made our own potions using the pumpkin seeds, we mixed them in cauldrons.
Then we made witches and wizards hats!
What an exciting day!
This week in nursery, some of our families have been to school to find out all about PACT (Parents and Children Together) They were all given their first box of books. The theme for the next 5 weeks is Animals.
We wish all of our families every success in delivering the programme and remind them that if they need any further support to come to nursery and ask a member of staff.
