On Tuesday 2nd July, Y5 got the chance to visit Prestwich Arts College for a taster morning. The morning was themed around the film 'The Greatest Showman' and we got to take part in dancing, singing and circus skills lessons! It was so much fun! At the end of the morning, we put on a performance in the school theatre. Here are some pictures from the day.
On Monday 24th June, Year 5 attended the Cooperative Academy for a taster day! We got to participate in Science experiments, as well as fun and exciting Maths and Writing lessons. We even got to sample the school dinners. We had a great time!
n Friday, Year 3 - 5 were lucky enough to have dance workshops. Year 5 really enjoyed their workshop and learned dances from both Africa and South America. It was really fun and energetic!
Dance and drama group, make sure you practise at home! Miss H and Mrs E :)
On Friday, 17th May it was History Day at CLPS. In 5L, we looked at the partition of India and Pakistan from 1947. It was really interesting to find out what happened. We then imagined we were Muslims having to flee India and thought about what five items we would pack in our suitcase. We then used Reading into Writing to create our own diary extracts before practising our oracy skills and reading them aloud.
5L had a great day on No Pens Day! We created PowerPoints about our new topic of North and South America. It was very interesting as most of us thought that North America was just the USA but we discovered it consists of 23 countries! We then did some Maths problem solving. We had number cards 0-15 and we had to place seven of them in order of a certain criteria - it was very tricky! In the afternoon, we did some PSHE looking at peer pressure and how to respond to it. We got to act out different scenarios and used freeze frames. Mrs Oseman then came in to teach us French and we used the oracy skills of nesting and trios to rehearse our own 'The Hungry Caterpillar' stories.
5C hosted the Key Stage 2 school class assembly on 29/03/2019.
We treated guests to readings from "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, " "The Hobbit" and we wowed with some "Times Tables Kumite" work!
Well done to all of 5C!
On Friday 15th March, 5L had their class assembly. Last half-term, we studied the Ancient Egyptians so we themed our assembly around this topic. We had a lot of fun practising it and it was a great opportunity for us to develop our oracy skills. Miss Curzon was very impressed with how much we developed our speaking and listening skills! We hope you enjoyed it.
5C made sundials as part of an investigation into the movement of the Earth around the sun and shadows.
