Guess Who - Art Competition!

29/4/2020

Hey Year 4,
Now the weather is getting a bit rubbish and we will be spending more time indoors me and Miss Lashmar thought it would be fun to hold a  Guess Who Art Competition!
Here is what you have to do..
Create a self-portrait   using anything to hand. It could be colours, paints, tissue paper, digitally on a computer or even pasta!
Send in your pictures by   Wednesday 6th  May.
y4c@crumpsall.manchester.sch.uk
y4l@crumpsall.manchester.sch.uk

Once we have some pictures we will start to share them on the blog.
You then have to guess who you think each self-portrait is!  Teachers and TA's  from around the school are also getting involved so keep a look out!  Let's see who can guess the most right and the winner  will receive  their very own....
CERTIFICATE! (It's the best we can do in  lockdown!).
Let's get creative!

Mrs Martin’s Speech, Language and Communication Group

27/4/2020

The following activities are for those children who have been working with Mrs Martin whilst in Year 4.

We have 2 activities to do this week.

Oral Motor Exercises
Here are some oral motor exercises for you to practice
These exercises will make the muscles around your mouth much stronger and help you say your words clearly.
You will need to practice these movements in a mirror.
Do each exercise 3 times and hold that movement for 10 seconds
Picture

Look and Say (A game for the whole family)

The second activity will help you develop your understanding and use of complex vocabulary ‘but not’ statements e.g.  “I like carrots but not peas!”

How to play
  1. Taking turns, look at each pair of pictures (see below).
  2. Decide which one you like and which one you don’t like.
  3. Remember to say “I like?  but not   ? ”.
  4. Can you say ‘why’ you don’t like a picture?
Variations
To make it harder, think of things you would like to try and do on holiday and things you will not do on holiday. Again, say “why’ you don’t like it.

E.g.”I would like to swim in the sea but not sail in a boat.”

Try writing some ‘but not’ statements. I look forward to seeing your work.

      Have fun!
      Mrs Martin

Ramadan Mubarak - Happy Ramadan!

24/4/2020

Picture
Ramadan is the holy month of worship which is a time of   spiritual  reflection and devotion. Muslims all over the world keep "Roza", which is a fast that is observed from sunrise to sunset for 30 days. Sehri is the pre-fast meal which is eaten before sunset (sunrise) and iftar is the post-fast meal with which the fast is broken. Worshippers pray five times a day and do not eat or drink during the course of the fasting period.
Ramadan is about giving   and doing good deeds also, so my challenge  for all of Year 4, is to see how many good deeds you can do  during this month.
You can help your mum and dad tidy, play with your brother or sister,  share your food with a friend or neighbour,   pick up litter or just a simple smile to others :)
Miss Bell and Miss Lashmar wish all of you that are celebrating a happy and safe Ramadan!
