I will be looking at some music websites that I can direct you to over the next few weeks. In the mean time, I've set you several tasks and have added some times to show you how long each task might take you. It might actually take you less time than this , or if you're like me, it will take you longer. Don't worry about this.
Listen to the song 'Sit Down' by James;you'll find it on YouTube.
Learn to the sing the whole song. This may take a while but you already know most of it.
Try clapping on the off beats- beats 2 and 4(simple syncopation) - all the way through the song. Spend 5 -10 minutes on this until you get it right.
Then, try this above whilst you sing the song(10 minutes). Is it challenging?
Now,can you add more syncopation in between the beats(complex syncopation) 1+ 2+ 3+ 4+1 etc .Remember the clap falls on the +(and) each time. Do this without singing the song.(5-10 minutes)
Next, try to add more complex rhythms using your voice. Do you remember this? "Ch c ch c ch c ch ch c" Try to clap the complex rhythms. (10-15 minutes It's a real challenge.
Check out next week for more. Have fun
