Hello  everyone!

These are the learning activities we want you to complete today in addition to English and Maths:

The Joe Wicks work out which will be shown on his “Youtube” channel.  The work out starts at 9am and lasts for 30 minutes.  Click on this link to take part:
https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1

From 9.30 – 10.00 am, we want you to practice your spellings.  The spelling lists were uploaded on a blog post dated 20/3/20.  We suggest that you practise ten spellings each day (start on step 5).  Remember to use the ‘Look, say, cover, write, check’ method to remember the spellings.

Next, we want you to read for half an hour.  Read your book or online text to an experienced reader if possible (this could be your mum, dad, carer, brother, sister or any other relative).  While you are reading, ask the person who is listening to you read to ask you questions about the book/text.
If you have any questions about the learning activities then please email us at:
[email protected]    (for Mr Ahmed-Swift)
[email protected]    (for Mr Tait)

Monday's english

Hello children,

This week , we want you to complete reading and writing activities based on a  story called The Game.    It  has a similar plot to a  book called Jumanji (which was also made into a film).

In 1981 Chris Van Allsberg wrote Jumanji. In the story, a brother and sister discover a game that turns fiction into real life. Whatever square you land on in the game,  brings a new challenge to overcome. Worst still, the challenge
becomes a reality for everyone around.

Type this into Google (but first  check  with an adult that it's okay to do this):

https://cutt.ly/JtxrUyf

Watch this movie trailer.  This is a link to the original movie trailer for Jumanji in 1995 and you can see the consequences of playing the game!

Picture
After you have watched the Jumanji trailer, I would like you to read the first  part of  The Game.  Read up to page  5 of the attached document and complete the prediction activity.

After this, read  the rest of the story up to page  7.  The last activity I want you to do is to write down  or underline any words you didn't understand and work out what they mean (this is the same clarify activity we do in reciprocal reading)  .

As reminder, there are three main ways we work out the meaning (clarify) of a word we don't understand in a text:
a) Re-read the sentence the word is in and re-read the sentence before and after;
b)  Word within a word ;
c)  Use a dictionary.

You can also listen to an audio recording or The Game on the following link:
https://soundcloud.com/talkforwriting/game

Now, don't do any more activities until tomorrow!

English Work by Zikria
After I got my invitation from the team of spies, I bought my equipment (my suit, gun etc) and went to the address I got on my invitation and to my surprise, the headquarters was disguised as a bird watching place. I came and showed security my badge I got in my invitation and he allowed me to enter. I came and a meeting was going on between the team. I also came and heard that this bad guy, who called himself Mr E, was planning on setting a bomb underground underneath Old Trafford when Man United and Man City are going to have a match (in the Premier League). So, we got ready and our boss, Bob, chose a few people including me to find out where Mr E was. So, we went to find him.
During our search we split up and I was partnered with a woman called Rosie. After an hour or so, I found him in a building on the other side of the country (I found him using my binoculars). We (me and Rosie) called everybody using our walkie talkies. When everybody came, we surrounded the building and when he saw us, we had our bird – watching clothes on so he didn’t realise it was actually us (the spies). But we were unlucky because we lost him. We snuck in to the building and realised that wherever the bomb was, it was in a locker and the code was M1S73R3.
We reported back to headquarters and told our boss about this and he told us that our whole team should go to find it with only 5 people for security of the headquarters. So, we went to find it and we really had to work hard today because it was going to be the match was going to be today at 4pm. So, I took information of the internet and found out nothing. Mr E is a mystery! So, I went and found many lockers but none of them opened on the code M1S73R3 but then our boss (Bob) found one locker which finally opened on M1S73R3 and we found the bomb in it.
So, we destroyed the bomb and got tickets to see the match and saw Man United beat Man City 2-0 and we took Mr E to prison.
