Good morning children!
Welcome back and we hope everyone has had a lovely weekend and continues to be safe and well. To start, I want to share an lovely thought of the day which focuses on kindness: “When you are kind to others, it not only changes you, it changes the world.” These are the learning activities we want you to complete today in addition to english and maths: 1. The Joe Wicks’ work out which will be shown on his you tube channel. The work out starts at 9am and lasts for 30 minutes. Click on this link to take part in his work out:https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1 2. From 9.30 – 10.00 am, we want you to practice your spellings. The spelling lists were uploaded on a blog post dated 20/3/20. We suggest that you practise ten spellings each day (start on step 5a). Remember to use the ‘Look, say, cover, write, check’ method to remember the spellings. In addition, practise writing sentences including the words that you have learnt. 3. From 10.00 – 10.15 am, Dr Chipindall will doing ‘live’ teaching of computing, science or engineering. Go to the following blog page to take part in this learning:https://drchips.weebly.com/ 4. Straight after lunch, we want you to do some reading for half an hour. Read your book or online text to an experienced reader (this could be your mum, dad, carer, brother, sister or any other relative). While you are reading, ask the person who is listening to you read to ask you questions about the book/text. We uploaded reading questions in a blog post on Monday. If you have any questions about the learning activities then please email your teacher at: y5l@crumpsall.manchester.sch.uk (for Mr Ahmed-Swift) y5c@crumpsall.manchester.sch.uk (for Mr Tait) Please check through our blog to check you have completed all the learning on offer. Make sure you have completed the work set by Dr Chipindall, Mr Roberts and Mrs Oseman as well. We are so proud of all the children who have engaged with the online learning this week. Please stay safe over the weekend and make sure you have fun and exercise each day. It is also really important that you read every day too!
See you on Monday! Everybody in 5L who has done their best with the home learning this week!
Well done for being independent! We are proud of you! Hello children,
Well it wouldn't be Friday without star of the week so here it is! Congratulations to Michelle who has shown real enthusiasm engaging with the online learning. Well done! I'm really looking forward to seeing your comments and work next week! Hello Year 5 children This morning for english, I would like you to write a letter to Ms Adams to persuade her to either ban school uniforms or keep school uniforms. It is important that you use your writing targets and persuasive language in your letter. Please see an example of a persuasive letter that I have started below. I have also attached a sheet, which contains persuasive language that you can include within your letter. After you have completed your writing, please re-read your text and edit it where appropriate. Good luck! Dear Ms Adams, I am writing to you regarding an issue that I feel passionate about. I strongly believe that the wearing of school uniform in our school should be banned. I have a few convincing arguments to support my view. To begin, school uniforms are dull and boring to look at. Many school uniforms, which are uncomfortable, have the same white t-shirt and grey trouser or skirt combination. Who wants to see four hundred children wearing the same clothes every day? Furthermore, school uniforms are expensive. Parents often have to buy school uniform for two or more children. This means that it can become even more costly for them! Also, school uniforms can get damaged. This means that there are pricey to replace.

How is everyone on this beautiful day? Did anybody try the “gratitude” exercise yesterday? If so, do let us know via a comment to the blog. Do remember, though, write your first name only – don’t include your surname. Here’s an interesting “mindfulness” exercise. Do you remember one thing you learned last Friday? What about the Friday before? How about the Friday before that? How many Fridays can you go back, remembering one thing you learned on each day? These are the learning activities we want you to complete today in addition to English and Maths:
