St George's Day in England remembers St George, England's patron saint. The anniversary of his death, which is on April 23rd, is seen as England's national day. According to legend, he was a soldier in the Roman army who killed a dragon and saved a princess

St George was born in Cappadocia.[An area which is now in Turkey]. The date of his birth is circa 280 and the date of his death is 23 April 303. Cause of his death: Execution by Emperor Diocletian. Type of execution: Beheaded. He was part of the Roman army, he was beheaded for protesting against Rome's persecution of Christians, as of his death date Christians decided to make this day a celebration in St George's honour. Thus making today St George's day.
